Masculine and Feminine Energy

Understanding masculine energy can be a bit tricky, and we might associate this entirely with being a man. And with that assumption, we couldn't be further from the truth. However, we can't blame ourselves for the confusion either because the name itself seems self-explanatory. I will talk about it later on in the article, but for now, let me tell you what masculine energy actually is. Every human being has two innate energies, masculine and feminine. Now, you can deny all you want about having one just energy and not the other, but the fact remains, and it's better to suck it up and accept it. How much we are connected with both decide which one is more dominant.

What is Masculine energy?

Masculine energy is action-oriented, whereas feminine energy leans more towards nurturing and reflecting. Masculine energy stems from how we think and what we do about our ideas. Confidence forms the basis for it; we cannot move forward with our decisions and plans without being confident. When we are hesitant in our choices, we tend to procrastinate on them. Masculine energy means having a rational head on your shoulders and taking risks where needed. While being connected to your masculine energy is important, it is equally crucial to be associated with your feminine energy as well. And men, for the love of all goodness in the world, having feminine energy does not make you weak!!

Finding your balance

Achieving a balance between both is not easy; it does not happen overnight. A way to see both is by studying the Chinese symbol of yin and Yang. Yin represents the feminine energy while Yang represents the masculine energy. To live a harmonious life, you need to find your own balance between the two. Just like everything else in life, you cannot achieve perfection. You can, however, come close to it with some effort and determination. This balance can look different for everyone, and it does not have a hard and fast rule you need to follow.

Energies do not translate to Genders

You must be wondering if both of these energies do not have anything to do with genders themselves, then why are they named as such. "Divine masculine is about archetypes—not about men and women," says intuitive counsellor and sacred space designer Elana Kilkenny. The people who have embodied masculine energy in the past have mostly been the males; however, that does not mean it is found in only men. These are traditional spiritual energies from which they are merely used to represent what masculine energy really is. I will say this again; these energies are not synonymous with the genders.

How to connect with your Masculine energy

We have talked about what masculine energy is and how important it is, but how do we tap into this hidden potential? Following are some practices you can follow to connect with your masculine power.

- Take action

Masculine energy is all about taking action, from what you believe in to what you think should be your next step. When you feel like you have reached stagnation in your life that you cannot get yourself out of, take action. This being of feminine energy and lack of masculinity translates to stagnation which can be emotionally exhausting on its own. To get out of that hole, you need to get up and do something. It can be anything, the laundry to folding you have been procrastinating or the idea for a story you have had in mind for ages, pen it down.

- Be self-assured

To feel confident in whatever decision or action you have taken is a key factor in connecting with your masculine side. As stated before, it does not happen overnight but becomes second nature with practice. To make it easier to believe in yourself, do not be hasty with your commitments. Take your time thinking, weigh out all the pros and cons, and have a clear vision. And once you have taken action, stick to it. Stand by whatever you have decided to do, and you will find the power to convert your words into action.

- Take risks

There might have been times when the situation's pros and cons weighed equally, and the outcome was heavily dependent on luck. You need to take that risk and take it with confidence. Do not be afraid to face failure. Be fearful of regret, of not going through and mourning the loss of an opportunity. Take that risk while standing tall and strong, and do not worry about the result. Whatever is meant to happen will happen, so trust yourself and do not falter.

- Heal your relationship with the masculine

This might not seem like an important step in connecting with your divine masculine energy, but it can be an obstacle preventing you from achieving it. This life is not all flowers and rainbows, and we might have encountered a male in our life that left a bad taste in our mouths. You might be reluctant because of those experiences and would not want to be like them. It is understandable to feel that way, but you need to heal your relationship with masculinity itself. To realize that masculinity is not translated into being a male, rather a part of you that you have left untouched.

Conclusion

A balance of both masculine and feminine energy is needed in order to live a fulfilling life. It s normal to have one be more dominant than the other, but diminishing the lesser active power is detrimental to your being. Just like the symbol of Yin and Yang, there needs to be some masculinity in femininity and vice versa; one does not exist without the other.
